In honor of his more than 40 years of achievement in the landscape industry, Stay Green Inc. founder Rich Angelo was inducted into the Green Industry Hall of Fame Class of 2008.
Angelo and his wife Charlene started Stay Green in 1970, running the business from their garage. Today, Stay Green employs more than 200 team members, and it specializes in landscape maintenance, tree care and plant health care.
Angelo served as president of the California Landscape Contractors Association and he sits on the Board of Trustees at Cal Poly Pomona.
Before launching Stay Green, he began his career learning all aspects of the horticultural industry, including nursery production, landscape management, corporate management, purchasing, supervision, sales, marketing and advertising.
Angelo holds an associate of arts degree in ornamental horticulture from Pierce College. He is a licensed contractor, pest control advisor and applicator, and he is a certified arborist.
He credits his success over the years to building close relationships.
“Everything is based on relationships,” he said. “You have to form relationships based on trust with your employees, your clients, and your vendors. When people know you and trust you, they are willing to do business with you.”
